Her Favorite Day

Every Monday morning, I wake up at way-too-early-o'clock in the morning to take my two oldest children to consortium. I then come home  and have school with my little one in the morning and then we two gals spend the rest of the day together--her choice.

It's her favorite day of the week. She asks me every Sunday evening . . ."do we get to spend the whole day together tomorrow" no less than 12 thousand times. She looks forward to this time so much, I never want to disappoint her so I try to keep laundry and cleaning to a minimum on Mondays. Although it really would be an ideal time for me to catch up on my household duties, considering my house is basically empty and that never happens

When we arrive home from dropping off her siblings, she will promptly ask me . . . "how many hours do we have left?" and I will let her know. As soon as she finishes her school day . . . she will promptly ask me . . . "how many hours do we have left?" and I will let her know. As soon as she finishes lunch . . . she will promptly ask me . . . "how many hours do we have left?" and I will let her know. After lunch she knows she can have her choice of activities and off we go, weather permitting.

This past Monday she selected an afternoon at the park, feeding the ducks and playing. Being the youngest of three children, she tends to get crowded out of activities a bit. Sometimes she can barely be heard from all the loud voices of her siblings.

But on Mondays . . . she really shines.
