Free Homeschool Timeline Figures For Story of the World
I discovered a blog called Tending Our Lord’s Garden, many, many years ago when I was using Story of the World with my kiddos when they were all at the Grammar school level. This website is dedicated to homeschooling and packed with resources and is fantastic for any other homeschool family that is utilizing the Story of the World curriculum.
The blog's owner, Mary, has generously shared beautiful timeline figures that complement the Story of the World curriculum. Mary offers some amazing timeline figures along with note booking pages and one volume even has a lesson plan (which I have been unable to link).
Many, any years ago, I downloaded the timeline figures, and they fit perfectly with the timeline pages my children and I used along with our own daily lessons that I created for SOTW. I recently discovered that Tending Our Lord’s Garden’s blog has some issues and it is very difficult for other homeschool families to download these timelines.
To assist other homeschool families, I have put together this blog post to help. Tending Our Lord’s Garden’s Timeline Figures are intended to be used as a wall timeline. However, changing the print parameters will enable anyone the ability to use these timelines as a binder, notebook or even small stickers.
I made it quite simple for any homeschool family by providing all the necessary links (below) to access the timeline figures and complete the timeline in one convenient place.

Developing a historical timeline involves more than simple busy work or a hands-on educational activity. Creating a Timeline of History was one of our favorite weekly activities each week during history. The creation of a timeline of historical events is an excellent method for visually connecting historical events.
I recommend starting a timeline if you are not already using one in your homeschool. It is a simple, visual, hands-on activity that easily fits into your teaching routine. Adding small images of events or writing them out on organized worksheets is surprisingly easy and provides a much clearer understanding of the material. It truly solidifies knowledge! There are countless ways to create a timeline, and a wealth of options are available. Search for history timeline online, and you’ll find a treasure trove of resources: fantastic websites, handy apps for iPad or tablet, creative binders or books, and classic paper printables. The variety of resources ensures that you can find the perfect fit for your teaching style and your child's learning preferences.

I created a binder timeline that I printed out on heavy cardstock, hole punched and inserted in a 2 inch 3 ring binder. Each lesson for SOTW had a coordinating timeline figure that my kiddos would put in the time line binder. Here is the timeline I created that can be downloaded for free: History Timeline for Binders.
In addition, I also created notebooking pages to go along with SOTW volume 1 and volume 2. I am in the process of working on volume 3 and volume 4 as well.

Story of the World Lapbooks
Creating a The Story of the World Lapbook offer a hands-on approach to learning about history through creative activities and engaging visuals. We created our FIRST SOTW lapbooks in the 2011-2012 school year - my kiddos LOVED creating a SOTW lapbook for volume 1!! I downloaded SOTW 1 and SOTW 2 lapbooks from Run of the Mill Family blog by Alia Macrina Heise. She has since removed her blog. But I do have the original ZIP file for both volumes.
Each lapbook was meticulously designed by Alia to complement the historical narratives presented in The Story of the World series. SOTW spans various epochs and civilizations. As students explore significant events, cultures, and figures, they can construct colorful and informative mini-books, foldables, and graphic organizers. These components can include timelines, maps, and character profiles, all meticulously crafted to illustrate the rich tapestry of human history. The lapbooks encourage critical thinking and creativity, allowing learners to make personal connections to the material while enhancing their understanding of historical contexts.
With the Story of the World Lapbooks, students have the opportunity to delve deep into topics such as ancient civilizations, the Middle Ages, and early modern history, making connections between past and present. The interactive nature of the lapbooks not only captivates young learners but also fosters a lifelong love of history, making the learning experience both enjoyable and memorable.
The dropbox files remain available for access through another blogger, Carrot Top x 3, who has also designed lap books for the final two volumes, making them ideal for children who enjoy cutting and pasting!
