A Perfect Picnic In Millennium Park

With beautiful summer weather upon us here in Chicago, I decided to plan a picnic for my children and I at Millennium Park. We have basically finished schooling for this session and I wanted to have a fun filled day with the kiddos. They are always begging for a picnic and there never seems to be enough time to prepare, so I knew this would be a fantastic surprise for them.

The children could not be contained any longer and we simply had to walk over and enjoy The Bean and admire ourselves in its shiny reflection. After a bit, we decided to see the giant walls that display the ever-changing faces of Chicagoans at Crown Fountain and frolic about in some water.

Silver Photography

What is more silver than The Bean?

I was digging around in drawers looking for silver items to photography this week.Ireally didn't want to polish silver, but I did clean a few pieces up.

Since silver is very reflective, it makes very little sense to light the silver objects as they do not absorb any light. The silver will simply reflect the light.  Just like a mirror.  So I needed to move the light around a bit to light a different area other than the silver I wanted to photograph. It was a great learning experience.

The issue I was having with taking photos of silver was motion. I simply couldn't get close enough with the tripod, so I was holding my camera. I couldn't keep the camera as motionless as I needed and I was getting a lot og blurry shots. I was getting a bit frustrated, but was able to capture some photos using my macro lens. I'm not too happy with the results and will revisit this task again later.Thursday Favorite Things

I need to update my body image now that I am in my forties. Weight gain and wrinkles are what I see in the mirror now, and are one aspect of growing older that I wish I could avoid.

I am a caretaker to my husband and my children and I ignore myself. My wellness plan has all but evaporated from my life because I am simply too busy to think about it. My body has been changing these past couple of years, sending me signals, which I have been ignoring, resulting in the  development of bad habits-- little to no exercise and greasy snack food late at night.
