How to Host a Halloween Party with Netflix

How to Host A Themed Halloween Party at home or at a location. for children and families.

Did you know that approximately 68 million people will dress in costumes this Halloween? And that about 49 million of that group of select individuals will attend a Halloween party.  Are you attending a Halloween Bash this weekend? Are you hosting a party?

If you are one of these spooky persons who gets all dressed up and attend a monster bash or hosting a party for your friends and family . . . I have a few tips for you.

Host A Themed Halloween Party

Make your party a themed party. This may seem like a no-brainer, but if you have friends like me who are completely at a lose when it comes to dressing in costumes, a theme helps immensely! Murder Mystery, Favorite Politicians and my favorite themed idea:  Best Horror Characters Streaming on Netflix!

Have a Costume Contest

It really wouldn’t be a Halloween party without a costume! So obviously if you ask your guests to arrive in costume, you will need to hand out some prizes for the BEST costume of the night. Get something easy like a container full of candy.

Finger Food

Be sure to have popcorn! You certainly can't watch scary movies on Netflix without popcorn. Be sure to have bowls of candy spread throughout the house, so guests can select whatever they want to add to their popcorn. We love sour chewy candy in with our popcorn.

Also have snacks like potato chips, pretzels, veggie trays, cookies, sodas and a bowl of punch. (and alcohol if you drink). No Halloween party would be complete without a spooky bowl of punch. Serve ghoulish green, and use dry ice if you can get your hands on some.  Another great tip I really like to have at parties is a cupcake bar. Simply set up a "Creepy Cupcake Bar". It is super easy too. Just set out various colored icing and candy and let everyone decorate their own creepy cupcake.

Eerie Entertainment: NETFLIX

No Halloween party is complete without some entertainment. Turn on your television and stream all the Halloween favorites in each room you have a television in. Play classic horror films in the background such as The Babadook, The Taking of Deborah Logan, Dark Skies, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Hush and some great classics like, The Exorcist , Hellraiser I & II, and Jaws.

For less frightening movies for the children, I would suggest Hotel Transylvania 2, Scooby Doo Movie 2, The Addams Family, The Boxtrolls, Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Wolfman, Girl Meets Monster, Casper's Scare School and of course, Corpse Bride andET. OR my kids FAVORITES to stream in October: Goosebumps, R.L. Stine's Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend?, R.L. Stine’s Mostly Ghostly: One Night in Doom, R.L. Stine's Monsterville: Cabinet Of Souls AND R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.

Do you see a theme here - my son has been hooked on R.L. Stine for as long as I can remember. When he was younger he would be too afraid to watch Goosebumps by himself, so he would beg his younger sisters to watch it with him. Guess who had all three kids sleeping in their bed the month of October for years!

Then come back together before the party ends to see who’s the best at scary movie trivia based on all the movies you just streamed on Netflix. Give away more candy for prizes!
