15th Annual Chicago Toy & Game Fair #ChiTAG

Chicago Toy & Game Fair

Chicago Toy & Game Fair is North America’s Biggest Toy & Game Fair Open to Kids of All Ages! ChiTAG, for short, will be here in Chicago, at Navy Pier, the weekend of November 18th-19th. Just in time for the holidays. We have been going to the Chicago Toy & Game Fair for many, many years. However, the last 2 years, the fair has always been on the same weekend as my daughters orchestra recital. This year the two events do not coincide! Oh Happy Day for my kiddos!

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun is to be had at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair! It is the time to preview and play with and test the hottest toys and games from around the world. Really, we have seen new toys here first before they even hit the market as the latest toy to be had.

Some of the past exhibits have been from Legos playsets, Build or Boom, Shark Bite, Catch the Fox, Rummikub Twist, Fish Food, all new Doggie Doo, Greedy Granny, Ultra Dash, Marbleocity, Automoblox, Magformers, Tileblox, Clicformers, Ice Cool, King Frog, Reef Route, Woo-Hoo, Flower Fairies, Peter Rabbit Secret Garden, 8-Bit Art Mario and many more!

This is the spot to actually speak with the toy and game inventors. My kids had the opportunity to interact with Tom Fort, The Kinetic King, who was a builder of chain reaction gadgets from Season 6 of America's Got Talent a couple of years ago and they still remember. There will be opportunities to take images with Star Wars characters and Princess Etch, enjoy live Stage Events with The Good Time Kids and Élan Dance Company. There will even be a Ben's Bubble Show, Mercy Magic, Contests, Giveaways, Ride-on Vehicles, Young Inventor Challenge, and so much more!

  • Giant Soggy Doggy will be at the fair Saturday and Sunday! Come join and see if you get soaked!

  • Super Power Sensory Hour 9:00 am – 10:00 am hosted by Neighborhood Parents Network providing early access to families of children with special needs.

  • U.S. National Rummikub Championship Tournament. Winner gets all expense paid for 2 to Israel for World Rummikub Tournament.

  • Young Inventor Challenge (deadline October 28th)! Amazing Prizes & Meet Toy and Game Executives and Inventors + Meet the Last Year’s Winners of Ship of Treasures!

  • National Yo-Yo Championship: Over 50+ Professional YoYo Competitors from Coast to Coast Saturday, November 18th!

  • Play for Peace Art Sculpture by Chicago toy inventor turned sculptor Jeffrey Beslow

My husband and I can usually get a bit of holiday shopping done whilst at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair. One of us will take the kiddos in one direction and the other goes shopping and sneaks away to the parking garage and the kiddos are none the wiser! There are also discounts at the fair that you would not otherwise have at a local retailer.

After you have exhausted every single booth at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair, you can head to Michigan Ave for the Festival of Lights Parade. Your family can enjoy a full day of excursions in Chicago for the perfect weekend! Families will have access to all the amazing amenities on Navy Pier and can make it a full weekend in Chicago.

Tickets are $14 for adults and $7 for children, available now at chitag.com/fair. 2017 Fair hours are November 18th 10am-6pm and November 19th 10am-5pm. The fair will open one hour early both days for families with special needs.
