Teachers Notes: Ghost Buddy #2: Mind If I Read Your Mind?
Scholastic’s newest release of Ghost Buddy #2: Mind If I Read Your Mind? by New York Times-bestselling authors Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver is another great book for your children to read. Ghost Buddy #2 is the follow-up book to the very successful first in the series, Ghost Buddy: Zero to Hero. Comical characters and hilarious plots will delight your children and bring a fun reading experience to the long days of summer. It’s the perfect title for a family book club get-together!
If you don't have the time to read it over the remaining month of summer, this is a perfect book to begin the school year with as well. Especially for all my fellow homeschool moms who are looking for curricula that is all inclusive. These books can easily be incorporated in a unit study or as a stand alone assignment.
Here is some video footage showing Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver talking about the creation of the GHOST BUDDY series. Although this focuses on the first book, it really appeals to parents(and teachers and homeschoolers) and will give more background information on the series.
“Billy and Hoover are back in the hilarious new series from bestselling authors Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver! It's time for Moorepark Middle School's annual Speak Out Challenge, and Billy Broccoli thinks he's got it made. With his best friend Hoover Porterhouse—the ghost with the most—by his side, Billy’s got the competition in the bag. Who wouldn't vote for a demonstration on mind reading? But when Billy lands a spot on the sixth-grade team, he starts spending more time with his new teammates than he does with Hoover. And the Hoove plays second fiddle to no one! If Billy's not careful, his secret weapon might just vanish into thin air, leaving Billy to pick up the pieces of a demonstration-day disaster!”
These books can be used as a school activity as well as utilizing the below worksheets for fun activities for your students and children. The students and children can find their way through the Haunted House maze, solve the Ghostly Word Search, and write about a spooky encounter in the Writing Exercise.
I love that there is a teaching guide for these books. This is perfect for this homeschooling mom! It's not always easy to read an entire book and then create a study guide for my kids and Ghost Buddy is all set for us.
