I want something elegant for my Thansgiving Table Setting, but I also want to use what I have. If my kiddos can complete the activity as an art assignemtn - EVEN better than that for me!

Simple Table Setting

A very simple way to decorate a dining room table if you don’t have a tablecloth is to use plain craft paper — either white or tan. Grab some at your local craft store and tear off some for the table. In either black marker or white paint marker, draw a placemat, and write name places where you would like your guests to sit. KIDS LOVE THIS!

These squares are 16-inch square on THREE SIDES, with room on the top (or it could be the bottom) to write the name.

Ombre Pumpkin Centerpiece

My kids love to paint pumpkins and we have been doing this project since they were wee toddlers. Now, just add the painted pumpkins in a beautiful color scheme to your Thanksgiving dining room table. Simple paint small pumpkins in various shades of pinks and fuchsias to create a lovely ombre effect down the center of the table. Add lovely fall flowers in teacups or small vases.

White Pumpkin Centerpiece

This is a super simple, but very elegant centerpiece with white pumpkins. Recycle your leftover white pumpkins from Halloween and use them as a centerpiece. Just create some simple, but gorgeous, name tags that can be attached with twine or ribbon or raffia.

Frilly Lace Pumpkins

These are so gorgeous! Use lace as decoration on small pumpkins for your centerpiece. Simply hot glue lace or ribbon or trim or tiny pompom trim to the pumpkins and place in the center of your table.

Cinnamon Stick Placecard Holder

I adore the use of cinnamon sticks as place cards AND the added BONUS is - your table will smell so divine! And really, how adorable are these full cinnamon sticks as place cards! Use cardstock to slide into the cinnamon sticks and attach with twine or fun ribbon or raffia.

Punched Paper Runner

Grab a big roll of kraft runner paper from Michael’s or JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby or even Walmart. Then tear off a piece to fit your table - I usually have to double up since my dining room table is square - versus the normal rectangle. My daughters love to punch out a lovely border along the edge of a kraft paper to create a fun table runner. If you don’t have punches - decorative scissors work great oo!

For the runner: Cut an 18-inch-wide piece of kraft paper to the desired runner length, then use an edge puncher to add a decorative touch along the edges.

For the place card: Tie linens with ribbon, embellish with foliage, and tuck in a decorative place card.

Fuchsia Table Setting

Head to Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s or your local grocer and purchase the brightest flowers they have. Fushia work swell and so does bright blues and purples or yellow. THEN, when you get home, try to match the color of your flowers to the decor on your table. Fun cocktails are always a hit when they match your flowers!

Rosemary Wreath

Whenever I purchase herbs for Thanksgiving, I always have SO MUCh left over. Simply soak some of the sprigs of rosemary in water to make them easy to manipulate into a ring. Then, form the springs of rosemary into circles and attach them with a tiny bit of floral wire or floral tape. Tie a small bow with leftover kitchen string you used on your turkey and add a name tag. You will adore the rosemary scent on your hand versus onions!

Pine Cone Table Setting

We have a number of pine trees in our yard, so I always have pine cones to decorate. This is a great craft project to give your kiddos for helping out with decorating the Thanksgiving table. Pour some neon paint onto a paper plate and let the kids dip the pin cone or roll the pine cone in the paint. Neon pink adds such a great pop of color!
