I was so excited to have an opportunity to check out the Long Grove Chocolate Festival this past weekend as I had not been in a number of years. I used to go all the time when I lived closer to Long Grove. I was ready to walk through the little village, invest in some chocolate and learn more about carpet and meet Audra Lowe from The Better Show who was currently on a Better Tour with the Licensed to Spill Mohawk Carpet team.
The reason I would like to learn more about carpet is because we are in desperate need of some carpet in our home. We are vacillating between ripping up the carpeting and installing new carpet or installing all hardwood flooring. We have carpet on the second level of our home and it is tired. When we built our home we purchased the best padding available and a fabulous carpet. However, after a decade, three children, a rabbit, a bird and hundreds of visitors, it's time for an update.
I had the chance to speak with a representative from Mohawk Carpet who explained the wonderful Smartstrand product to me. The Mohawk SmartStrand Carpet is really unlike any carpet I have heard about before. Smartstrand is an environmentally friendly carpet. It is made using a corn based fiber. SmartStrand has permanent stain and soil resistance that will never wear off. The stain resistance is built into every fiber of the rug, not sprayed on after the rug is already produced. Imagine having carpet for 10 years that looks and feels as gorgeous as the day it was installed!
Naturally I wanted to put this carpet to the test. Mohawk had an entire station set up for creating spills on portions of carpets and who better to make create messes than my children. The gals at Mohawk were so wonderful to let me girls create masterpiece messes. They were squirting soy sauce, power drinks, wine(it was in a squirt b ottle) and dripping chocolate from a delicious chocolate fondu in the License to Spill booth provided by the ever amazing Sweet Lindsay Bakery.
All that was needed to clean the sections of carpet was water. Water and some clean rags. It was amazing! Imagine spilling your favorite drink on your capet and not having to run to your cleaning bin searching for harsh chemicals to scour the spill that will ultimately come back as a huge stain anyway.
My daughters were having a blast making messes and even stated they wished I would let them do this at home.
Perhaps when we have Mohawk's Smartstrand in our home, I might let them!
