I try really hard to prepare for the Sunday photo challenge. I go so far as to write the challenges down on a sticky note and carry it about with me during the week. For some reason, I am constantly scrambling about on Saturday evenings, wondering where the week got off too.

Back to School We have completed our first full week of 'back to school'. My son had a bit of a freak out on Tuesday morning. He had his first full day of 7th grade on Monday at consortium and when I picked him up, he was elated beyond words. I think he smiled until he woke up and saw his syllabus on Tuesday morning. He had such a fabulous day and acclimated to skipping a grade immediately (Thank you Lord!). Wonderful teachers and great students in his class, because it really could have gone the other way quite easily. He was looking over his syllabus and got a bit confuse on an assignment and suddenly was very upset that he was a 7th grader and it was too hard. We had a bit of a sit down, some hugs, loads of reassurance and some explaining and he was off for the rest of the week with his smile again. Wheew!
The above photo is from the mini back to school photo session I did. This is one of the first photos I took and my son was less than pleased with me that I was 'forcing' him to 'take more dumb pictures'. Towards the middle of the session, he started to have fun and and at the end he was laughing it up. I'm hoping I still have a couple more years of coaxing him in on these sessions, although I think I am nearing the end.
The below photo is one I take every year of the children, sitting atop their books. The pile has now grown to piles of books and my tow oldest can't even stack all their books into one pile any longer! Once again, my son was less than pleased with me!
Writing Utensil My girls love these new crayons we purchased for school this year.
Favorite Subject Naturally, the favorite subject of my girls is Art. They are both so artistic and sit and draw, write, color, paint ---- CREATE ---- for hours. This is from our small sumi paint kit.
Recreation Wrapped in our nation!
Sky This is the summer sky in Iowa as we were leaving the Iowa State Fair one evening.
Accessory This gorgeous baby was having a blast with her accessory! I couldn't keep it out of her mouth!
Verb Tossing a ball . . . playing catch . . . catching a ball . . .
Transparent Fabulous accidental capture!
Tiny Another accidental capture.
Body Part This grass is my yard . . . IN AUGUST! It is unheard of in the midwest to have green grass in August! I love how lush everything looks around here, but I sure missed the sun this summer! Wednesday This photo I actually did take on Wednesday for a natural light window photo challenge. I made the headband for my daughter (with a matching one for my other daughter) and then decided they were so pretty, I had to use it as well! Music Nothing sweeter than the sound of the violin. Music lessons start in a couple of weeks. My summer break is definitely over!
Guess What It Is? Can you? Can You? It's something sweet! Mirror Image I wanted to do something fun for this one . . . but I ran out time this week . . . so alas, and easy selfie! I love when my curls look this good . . . it just so rarely happens. They usually look like a big puff ball!
Raw This past Monday I was driving home with the children and we passed by this field of flowers . . . usually at the end of July it is so stinking hot in Chicago that nearly every blade of grass is dead as dead can be. However, this year has been quite wet and cool and there was this lovely field of wild flowers where there normally would be a field of brown weeds.
I nearly broke everyone's back turning in there so quickly because I simply had to snap off some photos. My first shot is completely in raw and unedited (I didn't even watermark it yet). The second is slightly editing and watermarked.
Cooling Off We have a splash pad up the hill from our house, which we do not frequent too much as the kiddos don't really enjoy it that much. Except this one daughter of mine decided this summer to enjoy it immensely. Go figure?!
Iced Beverage So I have a summer drink that I have become a bit addicted to. Frappes. Oh How I Adore This Drink!
Leaves The blooms on my tree this summer were so pretty.
Cooler Colors Here is the same field of flowers I was speaking of earlier . . . I was off walking through the flowers to capture some shots and the girls decided they wanted to join me. The girls have been sick this week, so I was surprised they wanted to pose for me. This one was running a 102 temp and still posed for me. Such a trooper!
