Medieval Times | The Perfect Winter Celebration

The perfect celebration over the winter holiday break is a trip to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is a full 11th century experience. You may also enjoy alcoholic beverages at the bar.

I surprised my kids with a visit last week and I am so happy I held out telling them until it was time to leave. We have a family calendar that everyone check to see what is going on for the day and during the weekend, I always hear, 'what are we doing'. But I didn't write in this visit as I wanted to surprise my kiddos. When the question was asked, I simply said, 'get your shoes on, we are going to dinner . . . at Medieval Times' . . .

All three of my kids jumped up and literally ran to their shoes and were out the door in less than two minutes! I need to surprise them more often, barbecue I never get this much excitement out of them! They love Medieval Times. All I heard the entire drive was what knight are we going to get, I wonder if the hawk will be there, what knight do you want to win.

We arrived in plenty of time to be able to tour the castle. I would highly recommend you plan to arrive an hour before your show begins so that you can enjoy all the castle has to offer as well. My kids love to visit the the Chamber of Tortures, and this is a section of the tour you really do not want to miss. During the tour, you can also see authentic medieval artifacts at the Hall of Arms

Knights: Our Yellow Knight

Medieval Times | The Perfect Winter Celebration

We were so excited to be sitting in the Yellow Knight's section as we had yet to cheer this prince to victory. The kingdom of Navarra is the home of the champion Yellow Knight. My girls were both lucky and received flowers from the Yellow Knight. We cheered the Yellow Knight in all his challenges.

He began his quest with Medieval Times as a Squires, just as they did in the Middle Ages. The Yellow Knight learned the proper horse care, sword fighting, and weaponry. During the performance, the Yellow Knight and all knights perform with real metal weapons and wear authentic armor. During battle scenes, these real titanium swords create sparks!

Medieval Times is the #1 breeder of pure Spanish horses in North America. The horses are gorgeous. My girls are avid horse riders, taking riding lessons for years, so a visit to Medieval Times to see these beautiful and amazing horse is a huge treat for them. Each year, 25 foals are born at Chapel Creek Ranch, where they spend two years training. These horses are working hard for their knights.  When the knights are jousting, they charge at speeds of approximately 15 to 20 miles per hour and reach an impact velocity speed of about 30 to 40 miles per hour.
