« Capture: EXPRESSION »

I really thought this week would be a great week to capture loads of expressions from my childrens faces. We have a wide array of facial expressions in this house throughout the day. However, every time I attempted to capture a face with an expression I liked . . . the expression would disappear. Really one must be quite diligent with children and their expressions and a camera. My children are ready to toss my camera right out the window about now.
I have so many photos that are almost what I wanted to post OR so close to a funny expression OR a near miss (or hit) of a fabulous facial smirk.

This assignment was much harder than I had anticipated. I really thought it would be quite easy to capture my childrens expressions . . . especially my little one who has yet mastered the ability to hide her expressions. But this little one proved to be the most difficult to capture. She refused to even look up when I had the camera in front of my face, even on my insistance and begging. For instance, right now, she is having a major "mad at Momma moment" and naturally I tried to capture it and she won't acknowledge that I exsist. But I guess that is what I get for trying to post a blog when she just woke up from a nap.

Anyway, my captures for this week of my children (of course) and their many expressions that keep me in Tiaras & Tantrums!

concentration (Got the tongue though)

disgust (I was taking too many photos of him)

annoyed (hurry UP Momma)

silly (Momma, take my picture now)

upset (just push me Momma, higher)

happy (Hey Momma, look at me)

You must have such a great time with them.

Awww.. you got some cute ones! But I've found that kids are like exotic, endangered animals; you have to creep up silently, with a really long lens, and blend into the scenery. Then, and ONLY then, do you have a chance to actually score a good, natural shot!

Great pics...your kids are gorgeous.

yeah, i recognize the expression in that second shot - lol! i get it from my daughter on a regular basis. the only reason i got the shots i did this week was that someone else was actually doing a photo shoot of kali and i clicked pictures while they were working! you gotta be sneaky! great shots of your kids, good colors, great expressions, great captures - you did good!

my expression shots are now posted. feel free to come on and check them out :O).

That first picture is amazing. I love the colors of her dress and the monkey bas behind her. Even though you were going for expressions I love the colors :)

these are great! even if they aren't exactly what you wanted to capture, you have yet another collection of really amazing pictures of your kids. do you have them framed and hanging all over your house? i would!

Great shots! It can be frustrating to try to catch those great expressions, but you did it!

PRE-pre-teen angst and disgust is the best kind. I have one of Crown Prince Bryonicle that he took of himself...trying to look all angsty and stuff...sporting a big, red kool-aid mustache.

These are my most favorite pictures on your blog! Great pictures.

You probably have anwered this before but what kind of camera do you have?

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterThe Emery's

Great expressions! Your kids are beautiful (don't tell your son I said that...but it's TRUE)! Isn't it funny how the fabulous expressions die a quick death when the camera appears?? And it only gets worse...My 12 year old has had dozens of pictures with his hand in front of his face to block my efforts. Sigh...I really have to sneak up on him.

Wow - that was pretty awesome, you're not kidding..what an amazing display of faces!

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLife with Kaishon

I love all the different faces, and your identification of them all really brings it home!

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterlivinginagirlsworld

Great pictures...my kids get so sick of the camera they once hid it from me!

those are cute pics. I noticed I do better at capturing the expressions when I put my camera on that burst mode where it takes pictures continuous. Not sure what it's called. I love candid shots.

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDawn

Beautiful photos! I think you captured their expressions perfectly.

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCascia

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterStillmary

I have found that some of my favorite photos are those that I didn't intend to take. I was trying for another expression or angle and somehow something magical came up instead.

May 7, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCaraBee
