My children know they are not allowed to play or roam about in my dining room. I know this is horribly mean of me, but it is something that I absolutely refuse to budge on. They have free reign over my entire house . . . even my bed . . . but the dining room. Seriously, off limits.
Well, Elf on the Shelf was a naughty little elf and happened to find himself in the dining room for the third time. My son had to let him know that he (himself, not the elf) was not allowed in the dining room and little elfie was going to get him and his sisters into big trouble with momma.
So, Elfie, if you are listening, please don't hide-y in my dining room any longer.
It seriously upsets my son!
And in all defense of myself, I'm not the one to hide this little bugger in the dining room. On the mornings that I totally forget, hubbie will hide this little guy in the dining room. In the most inappropriate spots where my children know they are absolutely not allowed to peek, touch, roam or even place a fingertip upon.
Hilariously enough I have been forgetting to hide this little guy and last night I jumped out of bed at 4:23 AM when miraculously I remembered in my slumber. I scared the crap out of the dog bolting down the steps and fumbling my way about in the dark. Elf is causing serious anxiety all around!

LOL, that is too cute! I need to get one of him for next year!
Great picture and story! I am sorry about the elf anxiety!
I love the tradition you started with the elf. Might have to "borrow" that next year. :)
Mandatory rules lovin it. We had a living room we were not allowed to play in. It was my favorite place to sneak off an hide in the corner behind the end table next to the window quietly to read. I never got in trouble because I didn't touch a thing.
That is just darling! We don't have an Elf but several of our friends do. The kids get so excited over it!
naughty elf! gorgeous pic
How funny! Naughty little elf.
I have the exact same rule!
My mom had that rule about the dining room and the living room! That elf better get with the program!
I love those elfies, Mom use to have a lot of them.Happy WW

Great Wordless Wednesday! Hope you're having a wonderful Holiday season!
That is a great idea...and photo!
I was going to do the whole elf on the shelf thing this year but I decided not too b/c the kids are a little too young and I knew that I would for to hide it.
Cute shot.
Oh that naughty elf. :)
so funny I forgot the other night and woke up around 1:30 and was laying there trying to go back to sleep and BAM it hit me! I got up and snuck to the living room to move him.
Very cute picture and a great story!
That is cute! I didn't even know what the Elf was all about. I may have to get one next year!
That is funny our little elf is called Elfie too! Although seems like when my son names something he just will stick on "ie" the end of it and that is the name....=) I had a couple mishaps where I forgot to hide little elfie this year and last and had a disappointed little boy, so I now have set an alarm on my phone to go off every night at 9:15 to remind me to hide him. Works like a charm!!!
Our is called "Elfie" too! And my husband is having a great time finding places for him to hang out. Except the 2 times we've forgotten. Ooops...
LOL!! That's a funny story. I love the part where you jump out of bed early in the morning to hide the Elf. :D
btw - my pic is a bar of Fels Naptha soap that was being grated to make laundry soap. Definitely not cheese.
I love this elf guy, but seriously that is a lot of work to try and remember every single day! I'm gonna stick with my socks 'cause it's a one time set-up deal and then it runs itself all month.
awww thats really cute! :)

This is the second time I've read something about little Elf. I need to get one of those...
haha but it's worth all the fun! SO cute your boy whispering to elfie!
happy WW!
That is so funny.
I think a lot of houses probably have dining rooms as off limits due to breakable China and whatnot.
Too cute!
That is too funny! I need to get one of those!
What a fun family holiday tradition. Sounds like you have a blast abetting in Naughty Elf's roaming.
LOL, too funny! Naughty Naughty elf!
great picture. that elf is adorable. too bad the elf on the shelf, or santa's cameras, don't work for my son. he is getting coal from santa this year. happy WW and take care.
I'm sure the dog will be happy when the elf goes away until next year, LOL!
I SO need a room like that! Where no one else is allowed to roam. As an aside, I only just heard about Elf on a Shelf from my dear friend Kacey of Chronicles of a Mommy.
Loved that you awoke from a dead sleep to move your Elf around the house. You are one dedicated Mom. I love it!
We were given the Elf last year for Christmas. I look forward when I am able to enjoy this tradition with my kids too. Sounds like fun!
I really need to get an elf on a shelf. I think it is such a cute idea!
How cute!
All elf-related stress aside, what a fun idea!
funny!
I've just learned about the "elf" what a fun idea!
