« Capture: My Real Life »

Here is a photo tour of MY REAL LIFE.

I have to say at first I thought this task from Beth would be a breeze. But, Beth, this task was HARD! To remember to take a pictures every day of mundane activities was very hard. I kept forgetting almost everyday. Finally I just started to carry my camera from room to room. This task made me realize quite a few things . . .

(Firstly, I do a lot of laundry)

I am "just a mom" and well, sometimes I wish I had my career back. Especially after viewing all these pictures. How boring I am now! My life consists of waking up, making coffee(for me) and breakfast(for the children), feeding the dog, driving the children to and from school, letting the DD (damn dog) out no less than 25 times throughout the day, cleaning, laundry, cooking lunch, more cleaning, more laundry, playing ponies, playing at the park, watching babies sleep, more laundry and more cleaning, emptying the dishwasher (my least favorite chore in the world), cooking dinner, cleaning up after dinner, giving baths, reading books, getting snuggles before bed.

Not all in this order, but most days, yes, all these tasks.
This is not the life I envisioned for myself when I graduated college and landed my dream job. This is not the career path I had in (my) mind as I marched down corporate halls as a Sr Financial Analyst. I had a great job, I was good at my job, and I was on a fast track in my career.

That all came to a screeching halt the day my son was born. Well, not that day, but six months later when my maternity leave was up and I could not part with my new baby at all. I was a stay at home mom, something I would have been completely horrified to admit six months previous.

So this is my real life, I am "just a mom" and I love it. I would not change all the ketchup kisses, sticky hugs or whispered 'I love yous' for my previous salary.

(well, maybe if they gave me a raise)

I love your interpretation of Beth's task. Reminds me of the old meme "A Day in the Life" where you literally chronicle every bit, as much as you can. You almost did here, great job!

I was starting to think I wanted a dog, but now I'm not so sure. LOVE THIS!

I love this post. I completely get it. And, someday, when you're children are grown and gone, you'll be even more thankful for the choices you've made. I know I am.

This is great - "a day in your real life!"

I love the shot of the dog by the door and the car pool line. I thought of doing that one but kept forgetting to put my camera in the car! HA!

You have a great life for sure and very REAL!

Wow. What a great life. And yes, I chafe at having left my career behind too, but I too could not part with my baby. So here I am, many days dissatisfied and wishing I could work again, but somehow am just not able to bring myself to do it. =)

That laundry makes me think of the baskets I need to put away & those awaiting wash. *sigh* it is a never-ending thing, isn't it?

Love the coffee cup.

I love how you put it all. And I'm glad I met someone else who DESPISES emptying the dishwasher. I would rather do the laundry. I HATE dishes... okay. I'm done.

Great job.
