I built this . . . all by myself.
I was tired of waiting for my hubs to do this task, so I did it myself.
It wasn't hard, really.
I just didn't want to do it.

But it is probably better that I did it anyway. When hubs completes tasks such as this (or new bookcases for instance), he usually ends up twisting or drilling the screws in so hard that he busts through the sides. Or he pushes so hard that there is a big chip out the side or top or something like that.

I had my little 'helpers' and it took us an hour. I only made one mistake . . . putting the slide bars for the drawers on the wrong sides. Of course, I didn't find out the mistake UNTIL I tried to put the drawer in!My daughter was in desperate need of a book case as her books were sitting across the top of her desk and just not working. This book case is on sale now at Tar.get!! I put it on the cart, bought it, pushed it to my car, put it in my SUV, and built it! Dear Daughter was so happy to have a little reading corner in her room now. Although I think baby girl is happier! Hubs was happy too . . . and he said to me, "since you are so good at that, I have a few other things that you could do too".

Funny guy!

Nice work. Pat yourself on the back! There is something so fullfilling when you can do something yourself. Thanks for telling us where you got it, I was wondering as soon as I saw it.

Great job! I often do things for the same reason. It won't get done otherwise!

October 21, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDysFUNctional Mom

you go girl! That is what I have to do at my house... It only gets done if my man is interested in it, or if i nag him until he cannot stand it any longer...

Way to go!

I'd like to think I could do this too, but then my hubby would think I could do it and it wouldn't be "his job" anymore.

Just don't go fixing any toilets. :P

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMamarazzi

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTash

Go head girl! Looks good! I love putting together furniture for some reason? That's weird, right?

Love the book shelf! I think that my husband would probably drop down dead if I built something like that! :) I also love the chair that your daughter is sitting in- SOOO cute! What a beautiful family!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCaitlin

Good job! Abby is in desperate need of a bookcase also, my dad actually brought over cherry wood for hubs to build it like a year ago!!

So as you can see my hubs is also a bit of a procrastinator.

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJoy

I love her bookshelf! Very cute, and well done!

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDiscursivelyhappy

Great job! The furniture is precious. What cute little helpers you have! (:

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCheffie-Mom

AMAZING!! NO way could I have done that! Your little helper is too cute!

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterI am No Super MOM

Good for you! I had to do that with the grill. That thing cost too much to let my "no directions for me" hubby put it together! I like that bookcase. Did you attach it to the wall or is it sturdy enough to withstand climbing? I have a monkey boy!

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKameron

I call this Girl Power!!! When my girls were that age we put together a computer table like that. We were all three so proud and I told them...Girls can do anything!! Erin still remembers me saying that.

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteravtcoach

Way to go Super Mama! She cooks, she cleans, she nutures and she's handy too...perfect. That reading corner looks blissful!

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

Good for you! I'm a single mom, so I'm supposed to do it all, but I still make my dad or brother hang pictures and put furniture or toys together. I don't have the patience. (Love the reading corner.)

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjenn3

That is awesome! Yeah you! I'm sure your little helpers enjoyed helping Mom complete the task too. Woohoo! Looks like they are enjoying it already.

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKacey Randolph

Way to go!!! That is a really cute bookshelf!! Husbands say the "funniest" things don't they?!

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLiz

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMandy

You are a woman of many talents! I hate putting together furniture too and I also have a husband that tends to nic things up when he does it. I guess you get what you pay for. :)

October 22, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

Wow. I am loving those bookshelves. And you've got yourself an adorable little helper there!
Thanks for visiting!
